Welcome to Class 3. Our teacher is Mr Sproat.
Phobias!
Boccia and curling
Year 3 took part in a Boccia and curling festival at BIshop Barrington. They had been practicing in our hall before the event as this is a new sport to us.
‘Nothing To See Here Hotel’
Year 3 are reading The Nothing To See Here Hotel by Steven Butler. Last week they designed their own hotel and wrote an information leaflet describing it. They organised their information into subheadings and designed their own logo after looking at collages in art.
Roseberry Topping
Year 3 climbed Roseberry Topping as part of their geography topic. Everyone showed great determination to make it to the top and enjoyed their reward of eating their dinner! From the summit they looked at villages, towns and land use in the local area. As it was National Poetry Day, they listened to ‘Wind On The Hill’ on the top which was very fitting for the weather! As they climbed down they took a break to draw the view and learn about Captain Cook who walked in the same place when he was young.
Science Week
For British Science Week Year 3 explored what happened to the fruit in their healthy ‘soda float’ drinks. They discovered that some of the fruit fizzed, some sank to the bottom while some floated up and down!
Snowflake Maths
Last week Year 3 took part in a maths project based upon snowflakes. They looked at shapes that tessellate and are self similar. Year 3 showed great determination to learn the square, triangular and cube numbers.
